Face scan not detecting your face? Check these things first

If a face scan will not detect your face, try one clear front photo in even light with your whole face visible. Remove filters and anything that covers the features. A rejected photo is different from an upload or processing failure. If the photo is accepted but the scan stalls, check the connection and the app's status before submitting it again.

Lookist starts with a front photo and turns the completed scan into an explained report.

Start with the image

Use a photo of one person facing the camera. Keep the forehead, eyes, nose, mouth, and chin in view. Choose even light across both sides of the face. A bright window behind you can leave the face too dark, while strong side light can hide details.

Remove sunglasses or other items that hide the features. Keep hair away from the face where practical. Avoid beauty filters, screenshots of edited portraits, and motion blur. Use a relaxed expression and keep the camera approximately at face height.

Identify where the scan stops

If the app rejects the image before processing, focus on the photo and the message shown. If the image was accepted and the result never arrives, photo framing may not be the cause. Check whether the app reports a connection problem or another processing error.

Before trying again, check your scan history for a completed report. Avoid sending the same scan repeatedly while an earlier attempt still appears to be processing. This guide cannot diagnose a server issue from a screenshot alone.

Check access only when that is the problem

If the camera will not open, check the app's camera permission in iPhone Settings. If you are choosing an existing photo, check that the selected image is available to the app. A permission problem is different from a face-detection problem.

Use the latest available app version and a stable internet connection. Follow the capture instructions shown in your installed version. If an image that meets the requirements still fails, contact support with the error details.

Send support enough detail to investigate

For Lookist, use the contact details on our support page. Include the app version, iPhone model, approximate time, and the exact error message. Explain whether the failure happened while choosing the photo, uploading it, or waiting for the report.

You can report the problem without sending a face photo in the first message. Do not include your password or payment details. Keep the original error text so support can distinguish the failure from a poor-quality result.
