How we picked and ranked these apps

Lookist publishes this list, and Lookist is one of the apps on it. Here is exactly how we built it, so you can check our work. On October 14, 2026, we searched the US App Store for 'looksmaxxing' and 'looksmax'. From the first 25 results, we kept apps that rate your face from a photo, had an update in 2024 or later, and offer something after the score. Then we added Lookist.

We read each app's current App Store description and release notes, and its privacy policy where we cite it. We did not run a hands-on accuracy test. No shared test scores these apps on the same faces. So we ranked on what each app says you get after the scan, using four criteria.

  • A feature-level report: scores for separate features, not just one number.
  • A daily plan or routine you can follow and track.
  • A way to try a hairstyle on your own photo.
  • A preview of how you could look after a glow up.

Why Lookist is first on this list

We publish Lookist, so we had to set the bar in a way you can check. Lookist is first because it is the only app here whose listing or product names all four criteria. UCHAD and AscendMax name three each. If a criterion does not matter to you, such as a glow-up preview, re-rank the list without it. AscendMax or UCHAD may then fit you better.

Apps we looked at and left out

Many results for these searches are lookalike apps. They have names close to Umax, PSL, or LooksMax, few or no ratings, and a single rating screen. We left those out because they add nothing the apps above do not already cover. Areum, which rates a 3D scan, did not appear in the first 25 results for either search. We cover it in our face-analysis app comparison instead.

1. Lookist: best for a detailed report and a daily plan

Lookist (App Store ID 6761900385) takes one front photo and returns an overall score out of 10 plus 15 feature scores. The features run from symmetry, jawline, and cheekbones to four skin scores, eye brightness, and hair. Each score has a written note. You also get a potential score and a percentile chart against other Lookist scans.

After the scan, Lookist builds a daily plan from your results and goals. You pick from jawline, skin, facial harmony, or an overall glow up. Tasks cover skin care, gentle hair care, and sleep reminders. You check them off, review your routine history, and compare past scans. Hairstyle Tester lets you try hairstyles on your own photo. Future Me shows a preview of how you could look after your glow up. It works for men and women.

It is the only app on this list that names all four criteria in its feature set. The trade-offs: it is iPhone only, and it has no community or clothing advice.

Lookist's privacy policy says Lookist stores photos encrypted while your account is active, so scan comparison works. Delete a scan session and Lookist removes its photos right away. Delete your account and Lookist deletes all photos within 30 days. The policy also says Lookist does not use photos to train models or share them with advertisers.

Pick it if you want the reason behind each score and a short daily plan you will keep. Skip it if you use Android or want a community in the app.

2. UCHAD: best for a breakdown with portrait previews

UCHAD (ID 6751680266, Promi LLC) launched in September 2025. Its latest version, 1.1.9, came out on October 3, 2026. The listing describes a selfie scan with a basic analysis. Then comes a feature-level breakdown of jawline, eyes, skin, hair, and symmetry, an improvement potential, an archetype-style description, and tips.

It also lists generated portraits of a refined version of you and an estimate of how long visible changes could take. It adds a blunt 'CHAD mode', a coach, and daily progress photos. Its suggestions cover grooming, hairstyle, posture, skin care, fitness, and lifestyle. It runs on iPhone and Android.

Pick it if you want a broad breakdown, a preview of a refined you, and a coach to ask questions. Skip it if you want to try a haircut on your photo. Its listing names hairstyle suggestions, not a try-on.

3. AscendMax: best for gamified routines and hairstyle try-on

AscendMax (ID 6754708033, Kazuo Corporation) calls itself a gamified self-improvement platform for men. Its last update came on October 13, 2026, the most recent on this list. The listing names face and jaw analysis and daily exercises. It adds a daily routine across grooming, skin care, nutrition, exercise, and personal care.

It also lists meal and calorie logging, progress tracking, and leagues against other users. In 'The Lab' you try hairstyles on your own appearance. It runs on iPhone and Android.

Pick it if competition and streaks keep you going, and you want food tracking in the same app. Skip it if you are not a man, since the listing targets men, or if you want a glow-up preview.

4. PSL: best for community and coaching

PSL (ID 6753061455, IQ Labs LLC) sits near the top of US search for looksmaxxing. Its latest version came out on July 29, 2026. The listing names weekly scans that rate symmetry, jawline, skin quality, and facial harmony. Its routine includes jaw and maxilla exercises, height work, skin care, and diet.

It also lists an in-app community, dating-profile photo generation, and coaching with progress tracking. It runs on iPhone and Android. Orthodontists say claims about reshaping the jaw with exercises lack scientific evidence. Give the skin, sleep, and diet parts of any routine more weight.

Pick it if you want a community and a coach, or better dating-profile photos. Skip it if you want a short routine, because its plan spans exercises, height, skin care, and diet.

It also suggests skin care and grooming products and shows a perceived age.

Its latest release notes add an ethnicity report through a DNA test partner. It runs on iPhone and Android.

Pick it if you want product suggestions for skin care and grooming next to your routine. Skip it if you want to try a haircut on your photo, which its listing does not name.

6. LooxUP: best for style tips past the face

LooxUP (ID 6478697267, DIALIGHT INTERNATIONAL LP) has a store name that starts with 'LooksMax Face Rating'. It is a different app from LooksMax. Its last update came on August 3, 2026. It analyzes face shape, facial features, proportions, and skin tone, then gives tips on skin care, hairstyles, clothing, and accessories.

Its feature list also names an attractiveness plan, self-esteem tips, request history, and a ranking of men nearby. Its privacy policy says it keeps original photos for no longer than 24 hours. It is iPhone only.

Pick it if you want ideas for clothes and accessories, not only your face. Skip it if you want a daily task list to check off. The listing does not describe how it tracks its plan.

7. Moggr: best for trying hairstyles and face-shape tips

Moggr (ID 1620869433, Funny Media Labs) is the oldest app here. It came out in June 2022 and had its last update on July 10, 2026. Its listing focuses on measurement. It covers symmetry points for each feature, facial thirds, your midface ratio, your better photo side, skin quality, and the age you look.

It also finds your face shape and eye shape, with tips on hairstyles, accessories, sunglasses, and makeup. Its standout feature is a hairstyle try-on with 50 styles for men and women. We could not confirm an Android version from the same publisher.

Pick it if your main question is which haircut suits your face, and you like proportion measurements. Skip it if you want a daily routine with tasks, which the listing does not describe.

The listing does not describe a plan, task list, or progress screen. Its privacy policy says it keeps face scans for up to one year.

Its latest version came out on April 4, 2024. It runs on iPhone and Android.

Which looksmaxxing apps work on Android?

How to choose the right looksmaxxing app for you

Most of these apps show a face, a number, and some bars in their screenshots. The real difference is what you do the week after. Work through these steps before you install anything.

  1. Write down the one thing you want. It could be a rating, the reason behind it, a routine, a haircut idea, or style advice.
  2. Check the table at the top for the app that names that feature.
  3. Open the App Store listing and confirm the publisher name and the last update date. Lookalike names are common.
  4. Read the privacy policy to see how long the app keeps your face photo and how to delete it.
  5. Take your first scan in good light and treat it as a baseline, not a verdict.
  6. Give the routine a few weeks, then scan again under the same light and compare.

How to get a fair score from any app

Every app on this list reads a photo, so the photo decides a lot. A 2018 study in JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery looked at camera distance. It estimated that a selfie from about 12 inches makes the base of the nose look about 30 percent wider than a photo from 5 feet. Side light, a tilted head, or a filter shift scores too.

Face a window in daylight and hold the camera at eye level, at least an arm's length away. Keep a neutral face and turn off beauty filters. Pull hair off your forehead so the app can see your brow line. Use the same setup for every scan. Our photo guide walks through it.

If you are not ready to install an app, try a browser tool first. Lookist's face rating, face shape, and symmetry tools run in your browser, and the photo stays on your device. They give you a feel for how light and angle move a score.

What no looksmaxxing app can do

No app changes your face. The score is a checkpoint, and your habits do the work. Skin care, sleep, a lower body-fat level, and a haircut that suits your face shape all show up in photos. A good app makes those habits easier to keep and shows you, scan by scan, if they work.

Scores also do not measure your worth or how people will treat you. Use them to pick one or two things to work on, then put the phone down.

Be careful with routines that promise a new jaw. The American Association of Orthodontists says no scientific evidence supports claims that exercises reshape your jaw. See a dentist or orthodontist for jaw or bite concerns, and a dermatologist for skin that hurts or changes quickly.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best looksmaxxing app?

It depends on what you want after the scan. On our four criteria (feature report, daily plan, hairstyle try-on, glow-up preview), Lookist names all four. UCHAD and AscendMax name three each, and Umax and LooksMax suit a quick rating.

Is there an app to measure attractiveness?

Yes. Every app on this list rates your face from a photo. Some, like Lookist, break the score into separate features with notes. None publishes a shared accuracy test, so treat the number as an estimate that depends on your photo.

Does the Umax app really work?

Umax gives you a rating and suggestions from a selfie, which is what its listing describes. It does not list a daily plan or progress tracking. No app changes your face by itself, so the result depends on what you do next.

Is the Maxxing app legit?

Maxxing is a live App Store app from Glow Up LLC, updated September 22, 2026. It is also on Google Play. Its listing names a score, a facial analysis, a glow-up routine, product suggestions, and a perceived-age result.

What is the face app everyone is using?

There is no single one. On October 14, 2026, Umax, PSL, Maxxing, and LooksMax held the top four US App Store spots for 'looksmaxxing'. Search position reflects popularity and keywords, not report quality.

How does LooksMax work?

Its listing describes three steps: upload your photos, let the app analyze your traits, and get results with personal advice. It speaks mainly to men.

Is there an app that can make me look more attractive?

No app changes your face, but some help you choose what to change. Lookist's daily plan covers skin, hair, and sleep, and Hairstyle Tester lets you try a haircut on your photo first. AscendMax and Moggr also list hairstyle try-on.

Which looksmaxxing app works for women?

Lookist works for men and women, and Moggr's hairstyle try-on covers styles for both. AscendMax and LooksMax write their listings for men. Check each listing before you install.

Are looksmaxxing apps safe to use?

Read each app's privacy policy before you upload a face photo. Policies differ a lot. Umax says it keeps face scans for up to one year. LooxUP says it keeps original photos for no more than 24 hours. Lookist keeps photos while your account is active and lets you delete them. Pick the policy you are comfortable with.

Are looksmaxxing apps accurate?

None of these apps publishes an accuracy study in its listing. No shared test compares them on the same faces. Your light, angle, and camera distance change the result. Use the same setup for every scan and compare yourself with your own past scans.
